Professor Joseph Sung

Professor Joseph Sung is a highly accomplished and respected academic and leader in the field of medicine, particularly in the areas of gastroenterology and artificial intelligence. He is currently the Distinguished University Professor, Senior Vice-President (Health & Life Sciences) and Dean of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University, as well as the Chief Editor of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has extensive experience in leadership, having served as the Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2010 to 2017 while holding various honorary appointments at universities in China and internationally. He has published over 1000 papers, authored, and edited 30 books and contributed to major medical textbooks. He holds multiple degrees and is a Fellow of several prestigious medical organizations and academies, including the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), Hong Kong College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians (London), American College of Gastroenterology, Royal Australian College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians (Thailand), Royal College of Physicians (Glasgow), American Gastroenterological Association, and the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong. He is also an Academician of The Chinese Academy of Engineering and has received several honorary degree.
